Park Plaza Hotel-cardiff

Concept: This hotel is located between a large theater and a wild, natural landscape and prominent river.  The architectural concept uses nature as inspiration and includes natural materials such as rusted iron, wood and stone. This enables the creation of a synergized modern and traditional look.

Challenge: Creating an architectural lighting plan that would accurately reflect this interesting combination of modern and traditional architecture and design. The plan must incorporate both central decorative lighting elements and professional artistic lighting.

Solution: The hotel’s main wall features metal sculptures of seagulls. These sculptures are lit with spotlights that are connected to a control system, enabling them to be randomly lit on an alternating basis. This created the illusion of the seagulls moving across the wall.
